Previous Playoff Desktops

Hey all,

Just watched a slap shot by freakin Carney go off Salei's toe and in for the winner, so to distract myself, I recently dug into the archives and found the images of the previous year's desktops I made.

Most have all the series and winners.

I only mocked up the 2007 SCF, and decided not to do a desktop out of protest of the Avalanche missing the playoffs.

Hope you enjoy them:

2007
This is a mock-up with the AVS making the 8th and final spot.

2006
Who can forget the Oilers improbable run to the cup finals, only to fall short in a game 7 to the Hurricanes!

2006 - Olympics
Was so excited for the Olympics in Turin I did a desktop.

2005
Silent moment... OK done. Hey media, can we put this behind us now? Sheesh.

2004
Tampa Bay comes in as a #1 seed in the East and wins in seven games.

2003
Devils beat the then "Mighty" Ducks. Who can forget Stevens leveling Kariya.

2002
My first year doing the desktop. Notice the white and dark jerseys representing the higher and lower seeds (might need to go back to this). Wings take the Hurricanes in 5 games.

You can tell my Photoshop skillz have slighty increased. I was kinda stuck on blue backgrounds there for while eh?

Well, hope you enjoyed, let me know which ones you liked the best, that'll give me good feedback for next year's desktop.

GO AVS!!

Set the playoff desktop as a desktop item to get the new picture automatically

Some of you have asked me how to set the Playoff background as a desktop item which allows you to get the latest picture automatically everytime you logon, or to be able to synchronize the picture without visiting the blog. Here are the steps to do this:

Right click on your desktop and choose Properties. The display properties dialog box comes up.
Click on the Desktop tab
Under Background, scroll to the top of the list, and choose None
Click the Customize Desktop... button. This opens the Desktop Items dialog box.
Click on the web tab.
Click on the new button.
In the location text box paste this link:
http://www.3n1apparel.com/images/2008NHLPlayoffs.jpg
Click OK
Click OK in the Desktop Items dialog box.
If you want, you can change the background Color to better match the Playoff background if your screen resolution is larger than 1024x768.
Finally, click apply, and then OK.
The picture will then appear on your desktop inside a grey border. You can drag and resize this border to your liking.

To get the latest picture, just right click anywhere inside the grey border and choose refresh. This will ge the latest playoff picture. If you restart your machine, or log in, it should get the latest picture automatically.

Hope this helps. Go AVS!

The 2008 NHL desktop

Click here to see and download the image.

Here it is, the first issue of the 2008 NHL Playoffs desktop. Every series is tied at 0, hope springs eternal for all teams (except maybe Calgary).

I hope you all enjoy this, and feel free to pass this along to others.

Click here to see and download the image.

My hope is to get some time to create the individual series matchups as a background to use on your phones. When I get that done, I'll indicate it on the desktop.

I am also planning to upload all the previous years desktop images so you can see how it has looked in the past.

Thanks,
